Profile

Encouraged at an early age by her grandmother, who was one of the first female students at the Royal Academy Schools, Sue Wales went on to Reigate Art School and completed her studies in Paris at the Grande Chaumiere and Academie Julien.

She usually works in oils, painting landscapes, interiors, still lives and portraits. Although much of her work is figurative, she also likes to experiment in a more abstract format.

Sue Wales exhibits widely; as well as several one woman shows in London and Reigate, she has exhibited in the USA and throughout the UK, including Edinburgh, Cardiff, Bristol, Chester, Birmingham, Stow-on-the-Wold, Stroud, Wimbledon and Bath.

She has shown at the RBA, RWA, SWAC, Discerning Eye, Cheltenham Group of Artists and the Bath Society of Artists (of which she is a member). Recently, she  exhibited at the Wales Contemporary where she won second prize.
